Frequently Asked

Honest answers, straight up.

Will a Nizpro tune void my Yamaha warranty?

ECU tuning is a modification, so it can affect Yamaha's warranty position depending on the engine and the specific issue. Nizpro's tunes stay inside the engine's design envelope and are reversible to the OEM calibration at any time, but we always recommend talking to your local Yamaha dealer about your individual situation. We'll give you straight answers — we don't make warranty promises we can't keep.

What fuel do I need to run after a tune?

A minimum of 89-octane US pump fuel is required to run any Nizpro performance tune safely. Premium (91+) is fine and won't hurt anything. Regular 87-octane is not approved — running lower-octane fuel can cause knock and undo the gains the tune is designed to deliver.

How long does the tune installation take?

Most ECU reflashes are completed the same day. The actual flash takes under an hour — most of the appointment is diagnostics, baseline data logging, and a road test afterward. Plan on a few hours start to finish. Larger installs or troubleshooting can take longer.

Is the tune reversible?

Yes. The Nizpro flash can be reverted to the original Yamaha OEM calibration at any time. If you sell the boat, change your mind, or need to take the engine to a Yamaha dealer for unrelated service, we can put it back to factory.

How much fuel economy will I actually gain?

Real-world cruise economy gains typically run 5–20% depending on the engine, the prop setup, the hull, and how you operate. Some Yamaha platforms — like the VF SHO V6 — see published Nizpro test data of up to 27% at cruise. We won't promise a specific number on your boat until we know your setup, but the range is consistent and well-documented across hundreds of installs.

Do you tune engines other than Yamaha?

We're Yamaha specialists exclusively. Nizpro is a Yamaha-only performance shop, and that focus is part of why their calibrations are so well-developed. If you've got a Mercury, Suzuki, or Honda outboard, we're not the right shop — we'll tell you that honestly.

What does the tune cost?

Tune pricing varies by engine family — a 4-cylinder F-series flash and a V8 5.6L Performance Repower are different products at different price points. Call (305) 482-1121 or send us your engine model and year and we'll give you a straight quote.

Performance gains vary by engine model, year, propeller setup, hull configuration, and operating conditions. ECU tuning is a modification — implications for any factory warranty depend on Yamaha and the specific issue.
